Introduction
KDP, which stands for Kindle Direct Publishing, is a self-publishing platform designed by Amazon. It allows the authors to publish an e-book or a paperback book. This article will help you learn exactly how to do that and thus how to self-publish a book step by step on KDP.(upload low content book)

Create a KDP Account
The very first thing that you’ll have to do to self-publish your book on KDP is to create an Amazon account. In order to do this, you’ll first have to visit the website: “kdp.amazon.com”. Here, if you already own an Amazon account, simply proceed to click the “Sign in “option; otherwise, click the “Sign up” option and create a new Amazon account. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be redirected to the Amazon Author dashboard.

Add the details for your Kindle eBook.
On your dashboard, you’ll see the option to either add a new “Kindle eBook” or a “Paperback.” This article, however, will focus on how to self-publish an eBook. Therefore, click the button with the word “eBook” in it. Once done, you’ll be asked to choose your eBook’s primary language. That is the language in which your book has been written. You will then proceed to enter the book title and subtitle. The book title is necessary since it is primarily what will catch the eye of the reader; the subtitle, however, is not and is, in fact, optional. This will be followed by the verification of your publishing rights. Once this is done, you’ll enter up to 7 keywords for your book.

This essentially refers to the words that, if searched, will lead to your book showing up in front of a potential buyer. Next, choose from the category list, which will appear once you click the “Set Categories” button. You may select up to 2 categories. The second to last step is to choose an age range. Although it is optional, you can make use of it if your book is targeted to a specific age group. Lastly, you will need to choose whether or not you want your book to be instantly published or for it to be available for pre-order. After having chosen so, click the “Save and Continue” button. Once this is done, you’re one step closer to learning how to self-publish a book on KDP!

Upload the eBook
You have now been redirected to a new page. The first of the many steps here is to select whether or not you want DRM. This stands for Digital Rights Management and essentially prevents people from copying and sending your book to other people for free. It is, however, important to note that this cannot be changed once the book has been published. Once having chosen, click the “Upload eBook manuscript.” Although you can upload this manuscript in the shape of a pdf or doc file, it is recommended to first turn it into an epub file, which can be obtained by using Amazon’s very own “Kindle Create,” available to be clicked just before you upload your manuscript on the KDP website. Once the file has been uploaded, proceed by uploading the cover for your book. However, make sure that this is either a JPG or TIFF file. Otherwise, it won’t be accepted. Next, make use of the Kindle Previewer, but only if you wish to preview your book. The last step is to then choose an ISBN and publisher; however, you can leave these blank if you intend to publish your book only on Amazon. Once again, click the “Save and Continue” button.

Pricing for your eBook
The first step is to whether or not choose KDP select. You can, however, skip this step for now since once enrolled, you can’t get out of it for at least 3 months. More so, it is optional. After this, choose the territories you want your book to be available in, as well as a royalty plan. That is either 35% or 70%. Proceed by choosing Amazon.com as your marketplace and then set the list price. As for book lending, it’s not necessary unless you choose the 70% option. That’s it! Once done, either click the “Save as Draft” button until a publishing date has been decided or simply click the “Publish your Kindle eBook” button, and just like that, your book is ready to be read!
